About

The story

Beside Dunkeld, The Hermitage is woodland walking at its most cinematic. A riverside path threads beneath some of Scotland's grandest Douglas firs to Ossian's Hall, an 18th-century folly poised dramatically above the roaring Black Linn falls — a view engineered to take the breath away. In autumn the beeches turn to fire; in spring the gorge thunders with snowmelt. Well-loved and rightly so, it rewards every visitor with the rare thrill of nature framed by Georgian imagination.
