About
The story
Eigg runs on its own electricity and its own rules, and on a croft above Cleadale stands a small mono-pitched cabin built for thinking in. Sweeney's Bothy was made by the Bothy Project with the poet Alec Finlay, taking its name from the Gaelic legend of Suibhne, the king who lost his mind and took to sleeping in trees; a thorn-shaped post inside props the sleeping platform in his memory. There is a wood stove, a desk at the window, and a view straight across the sea to the Rum Cuillin. No road noise, no light pollution, no reason to hurry. Artists come to work here; anyone can come to stop.
