About
The story
Set at Abbey Farm on the fringe of Glastonbury, this is a museum devoted entirely to the rhythms of rural Somerset — cider-making, cheese, the working year on the land. Its centrepiece is a magnificent fourteenth-century abbey barn, all honeyed stone and cathedral-like timbers, surrounded by orchards and farm buildings. Displays trace the lives of the labourers, makers and families who shaped this landscape, while the grounds invite a slow wander. It's the sort of place that rewards curiosity, whatever the weather, and sends you home understanding the countryside a little more deeply.
