About
The story
Dunsop Bridge carries a curious distinction: the Ordnance Survey reckons the exact centre of Great Britain lies on the fells just north of the village, and a payphone on the green commemorates it. At the heart of things, Puddleducks doubles as tearoom and village post office — a proper Bowland institution serving cheese and onion pie, hearty soups and Lancashire parkin to walkers and cyclists coming down from the Trough. Ducks potter on the green outside, the Duchy of Lancaster owns the surrounding estate, and everything feels held in a gentler decade. As a halfway reward on a Bowland walk, it has no equal for miles.
Our word
Why Hunters selected it
An independent tearoom that is also the village post office, in the settlement closest to Britain's calculated centre — quietly remarkable and much loved by Bowland walkers.
