About
The story
Arthur Hollins farmed Fordhall organically for more than sixty years, pioneering pasture-based methods decades before the world caught up. When development threatened in 2006, his children Ben and Charlotte led a national campaign that saved the farm — more than eight thousand people bought shares, making Fordhall England's first community-owned farm. Ben still rears grass-fed beef, lamb and Gloucester Old Spot pork on those permanent pastures, sold through the farm's own butchery and shop, while the café and free farm trails welcome anyone who wanders in. It is a working answer to the question of who the countryside belongs to — and the sausages are excellent.
