About
The story
On a steep lane above the Shibden valley, Kim and Stephen Rogers grow the ornamental grasses and late-season perennials that have made their small nursery a place of pilgrimage for northern gardeners. The garden alongside is the argument made flesh: a naturalistic sweep of molinia, sanguisorba, asters and seed heads that builds through summer and goes down in a blaze of autumn light. Everything sold is grown here, and advice comes from the people who raised the plants. Halifax is minutes away, yet the setting — old pasture, drystone walls, the wooded Shibden slopes opposite — is entirely rural. Open spring to the end of September; the garden alone justifies the trip.
