A West Pennine hill farm above Rossendale where the goats have their own diary and visitors join them for the day.

About
The story
Sixteen hectares of steep West Pennine hillside above Helmshore, farmed with sheep, goats, poultry and bees, and run with a cheerful streak of invention. Days here are properly hands-on: feeding the goats, meeting the hens and collecting warm eggs, watching a working sheepdog put a flock through its paces on ground that falls away towards the valley. The farm found unlikely fame during lockdown when its goats began appearing on video calls, and the humour has stuck — goat yoga among them — but underneath it this is a genuine working hill farm with the weather coming over the moor and the animals earning their keep. Ordinary farming, made unusually welcoming.
Our word
Why Hunters selected it
A real working West Pennine hill farm that opens itself to visitors with wit and generosity, and whose goats became internationally known without the farm ever stopping being a farm.
