About
The story
Down a quiet lane in Dutton, Sue Beesley — once crowned BBC Gardener of the Year — grows the garden most of us imagine when we close our eyes: curving herbaceous borders at their billowing best in high summer, an orchard deep in wildflower meadow, ponds, an alpine scree and a corner of frank exotica. The nursery alongside sells the same perennials that perform in the borders, raised on site by the person who planted them, and advice comes from the horse's mouth. In spring the ancient woodland at the garden's edge floods blue with native bluebells, and the tea room keeps the whole visit unhurried.
