About

The story

Nine miles from Inverness on the Drumnadrochit road, a small sign points up from the A82 into what may be Britain's most improbably sited nursery. The Davidson family have spent decades terracing the steep, wooded hillside above Loch Ness into a garden of winding paths, drystone walls and sudden loch views, and the plants they sell — primulas, hardy geraniums, heathers and other Highland-proof perennials — are propagated on the spot, proven against the same winds and frosts your own garden will offer them. Open daily from February to November, it rewards the detour with the sort of plantsmanship and quiet that no retail shed can imitate.

Our word

Why Hunters selected it

A family-run nursery propagating its own hardy stock on a spectacular Loch Ness hillside — independent, characterful and virtually unknown beyond those who've stumbled on it.
